Chutney Chicken Biryani Recipe

Chutney Chicken Biryani is a slight change from the traditional Biryani with a little addition of greens in it i.e. Chutney. But do not worry, it’s as delicious as other Biryanis only a bit more enhanced with the ingredients. Do try making it soon!

Chutney Chicken Biryani Recipe With Ingredients and Directions:

  • Chicken ½ Kg
  • Yogurt 1½ Cups
  • Salt 1½ Tsp
  • Allspice powder 1 Ttsp
  • Turmeric ¼ Tsp
  • Brown Onion 1 Cup
  • Whole Spices mixed 1 Tbsp
  • Ginger Garlic Paste 1 Tbsp
  • Rice (boiled) ½ Kg with 2 Tbsp oil till ¾ done
  • Oil ¾ Cup
  • Mint and coriander leaves for garnish
  • Tomato, cut into slices 1 Pc.

Ingredients for Chutney:

  • Coriander Leaves 1 Bunch
  • Mint leaves ½ Bunch
  • Onion large 1 Pc
  • Green Chilies 15- 20 Pcs
  • Garlic Paste 1 Tbsp
  • Cumin (roasted and crushed) 1½ Tbsp
  • Desiccated Coconut ½ Cups


  • Add all the ingredients for the chutney in a blender and blend them until the paste, set it aside
  • Now take a pot and fry the whole spices in it while stirring for few minutes
  • Then add the brown onion along with the ginger-garlic paste in it while stirring
  • Now add the chicken, chutney, all spice powder, salt, turmeric powder and yogurt while frying until the chicken is tender
  • Now grease the bottom of another pot and add half of the boiled rice on top with the chicken chutney, also give a layer of tomato slices
  • Spread the remaining rice forming another layer
  • Cover the pot with a lid and let it simmer for about 10-15 minutes
  • Garnish it with mint and coriander leaves and fried brown onion
  • Serve hot and enjoy alongside raita
