Katwa Gosht Recipe

Katwa gosht is a popular dish which is often served by roadside vendors and hotels. This tasty meat-based traditional curry is usually made on special occasions in some districts of the Punjab Province. It is best served alongside naans. Check out the authentic recipe for this desi delicacy below.

Katwa Gosht Recipe with Ingredients & Directions:

  • Beef with bones 1 Kg
  • Ginger, fresh crushed 1 Tbsp
  • Garlic fresh crushed 1 Tbsp
  • Tomatoes large, chopped 3-4 Pcs
  • Onion medium, chopped 3 Pcs
  • Salt to taste
  • Red chili powder 1 Tbsp
  • Turmeric powder 1 Tsp
  • Whole spices mix 1 Tbsp
  • Green chilies, chopped 8-10 Pcs
  • Coriander leaves as needed
  • Ghee 1 Cup
  • Flour/ Red Flour/ Chaki ka at 2 Tbsp
  • Water 6 glasses or according to your requirement


  • Take beef with some fat on it and wash it
  • Heat ghee in a clay pot and add all the ingredients
  • Also add the half quantity of chopped green chilies, all spices, and water according to your own requirement
  • The beef usually takes 40-50 minutes to get tender so you may keep on adding water if you need
  • Cover the lid and cook on low flame
  • Once the water dries and the meat becomes tender, fry it on high flame and ass some water for the gravy
  • Whisk ½ cup of flour in water and mix it with meat
  • Once the gravy becomes thick, you can adjust it according to your wish as long as it keeps consistent
  • Simmer the contents for another 10 minutes
  • Garnish with the half of remaining green chilies and sprinkle some coriander leaves before serving
  • Serve alongside hot naans and enjoy
