Red Velvet Cake Recipe With Ingredients and Directions:

Ingredients for the Cake:

  • Flour 2½ Cups
  • Eggs 2 Pcs
  • Oil 1 Cup
  • Cocoa ¼ Cup
  • Buttermilk 1 Cup
  • Ground Sugar 1½ Cup
  • Red food color 1 Tsp
  • Vanilla essence 1 Tsp
  • Baking soda 1½ Tsp
  • White Vinegar 2 Tsp
  • Salt pinch

Ingredients for the Frosting:

  • Water 2 Tbsp
  • Icing sugar 3⁄4 Cup
  • Corn Syrup 1 Tbsp
  • Egg whites 3 Pcs

Directions for the Cake:

  • Preheat the oven to 150C and grease 2 round pans of 9×2 inches
  • Take a bowl and whisk the flour with salt and cocoa
  • Take another large bowl and beat oil with sugar until it gets creamy, then add the eggs one by one along with vanilla essence and food color while beating the mixture very well
  • Now add half of the flour alternating with buttermilk
  • You can make the buttermilk at home by adding 1 tsp of vinegar to 1 cup of milk and leave it for 10 minutes before use
  • Next, take a small bowl and mix the vinegar with soda then add it to the batter while mixing all of them properly
  • Now pour the batter into the baking pan and bake in the preheated oven until the cake is golden
  • Start the icing once the cake is cooled down completely

Directions for the Frosting:

  • Take a heavy bottom pan and add ¾ cup of icing sugar along with corn syrup and 2tbsp of water
  • Cook the mixture until the sugar completely dissolves
  • Raise the heat and let it boil but do not stir
  • Just use a spatula and scrape sides of the pan to avoid crystallization
  • Cook for another 2 minutes
  • Now take a large bowl and beat the egg whites until they rise and get fluffy
  • Add 2 tbsp of sugar in the eggs and beat again
  • Now start adding sugar corn syrup to the mixture gradually down the side of the bowl and keep on beating at medium speed
  • The frosting should be thick and shiny
  • Use the frosting immediately
