Suji ka halwa Recipe

Suji ka halwa is one of the most oldest and traditional sweet dish in the sub continent. It can either be eaten with a puri or just enjoyed by spoon.

  • Desi ghee (solid form) ½ Cup
  • Choti elaichi (green cardamom) 3-4 Pcs
  • Sooji (semolina) ¾ Cup
  • Cheeni (sugar) 1 & ¼ Cup
  • Pani (water) 3 Cups
  • Food color (Zarday ka rang) ½ Tsp or as required
  • Kewra essence ½ Tsp
  • Dry fruits as required (for garnishing)


  • Take a wok and saute green cardamom in heated ghee for about a minute
  • Then add the semolina (suji) and roast it on medium low flame until it shifts the colour and becomes fragrant
  • Now add the sugar and mix it very well
  • Add water and food colour and cover cook for 3-4 minutes after giving it a good mix
  • Add the kewra essence and mix
  • Cover it and simmer for another 2 minutes
  • Suji ka halwa is ready
  • Garnish it with dry fruits and serve
