Ramen

 

Overview:
Ramen is a Japanese noodle soup consisting of Chinese-style wheat noodles served in a meat or (occasionally) fish-based broth, flavored with soy sauce or miso, and uses toppings such as sliced pork, nori, menma, and scallions.

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups chicken or vegetable broth
  • 2 packs of ramen noodles
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon miso paste
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, minced
  • 1 boiled egg, halved
  • 100g sliced pork belly or tofu
  • 1 cup bok choy, chopped
  • 1 sheet nori (seaweed)
  • Sliced green onions for garnish
  • Sesame seeds for garnish

How to Make It:

  1. Prepare the Broth: In a pot, combine chicken or vegetable broth with soy sauce, miso paste, garlic, and ginger. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer.
  2. Cook the Noodles: Cook ramen noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  3. Assemble the Ramen: In serving bowls, divide the noodles and pour the hot broth over them. Top with sliced pork belly or tofu, bok choy, nori, boiled egg halves, green onions, and sesame seeds.
  4. Serve: Enjoy your ramen hot with additional soy sauce or chili oil if desired.
