- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 2 cups tomato puree
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup chopped cilantro (coriander) leaves
- Salt to taste
How to Make Chicken Tikka Masala:
Marinate the Chicken:
- In a large bowl, mix the yogurt, lemon juice, ginger-garlic paste, turmeric, cumin, coriander, garam masala, paprika, and salt.
- Add the chicken cubes and toss to coat. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or overnight for better flavor.
Cook the Chicken Tikka:
- Preheat your grill or oven to 400°F (200°C). Skewer the marinated chicken cubes and grill for 15-20 minutes until cooked through, turning occasionally. Alternatively, you can cook the chicken in a hot skillet.
- Set the cooked chicken aside.
Prepare the Masala Sauce:
- In a large pan, heat the butter and oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Add the ginger-garlic paste and cook for 2 minutes until fragrant.
- Stir in the cumin, coriander, garam masala, turmeric, and paprika. Cook for another minute.
- Add the tomato puree and cook the mixture for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the oil separates from the sauce.
- Lower the heat and stir in the heavy cream. Cook for 5 minutes until the sauce thickens.
Combine Chicken and Sauce:
- Add the grilled chicken tikka to the sauce and mix well. Let it simmer for 5-10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
Garnish and Serve:
- Garnish with chopped cilantro and serve hot with naan, roti, or basmati rice.
