Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp semolina

  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ cup warm milk
  • Oil for frying
  • 1 cup sugar
  • ½ cup water
  • ¼ tsp cardamom powder
  • Few strands of saffron (optional)

How to Make It:

  1. Make the Dough: In a bowl, combine flour, semolina, and baking soda. Add ghee and mix well. Gradually add warm milk to form a soft dough. Let it rest for 10-15 minutes.
  2. Shape the Timausi: Divide the dough into small balls, about the size of a marble.
  3. Fry the Dough Balls: Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Fry the dough balls until golden brown, ensuring they are cooked evenly.
  4. Prepare the Syrup: In a saucepan, combine sugar, water, cardamom powder, and saffron. Bring to a boil and then simmer until it thickens slightly.
  5. Soak the Timausi: Add the fried dough balls to the warm syrup and let them soak for at least 30 minutes.
  6. Serve: Serve warm, garnished with extra saffron or chopped nuts if desired.
